YOUNG farmers in Cumbria have been thinking out of the box during lockdown.

As well as holding competitions online, like Springtime Photos and a Limerick Competition, the clubs have been putting the spotlight on themselves on the Cumbria YFC Facebook page.

This month’s club in the spotlight is Greysouthen YFC.

Greysouthen’s Chairman is Matthew Emmott and the club Secretary is Amy Bowness.

Greysouthen currently has 56 members who usually meet at Mitchells Auction in Cockermouth, every other Tuesday night.

This year, Greysouthen are supporting RABI; members made Christmas wreaths, which were sold at the RABI Christmas Carole service in Cockermouth.

The club also held a raffle for a food and drink hamper, which was drawn at Mitchell’s Christmas Poultry sale.

They also planned to hold an Easter Bingo night, but unfortunately due to the current situation this was not possible - they hope to rearrange once things are more back to normal.

Greysouthen are proud of their Cheerleading squad, which was placed second at the Northern Area final in February, which means they also qualified for the National final.

Members are looking forward to getting back into the swing of things when they are able to.
