MEMBERS of political party have announced they will take part in a two-day boycott of a social media platform over antisemitic comments allegedly made by a rapper.
Cumbria Liberal Democrats said yesterday on Twitter that they boycott the microblogging site today over a long series of comments on the platform made by Grime artist Wiley on Twitter and Instagram.
In the post the Lib Dems stated: “The Liberal Democrats will be joining tomorrow’s 48-hour walkout from Twitter, starting at 9am, in protest over the shameful inaction against antisemitic comments on their platform.
“It’s time for Twitter to crack down on such racist and hateful views #NoSafeSpaceForJewHate”
Twitter has since said it has temporarily suspended Wiley’s account and Instagram has said it has deleted some of the posts.
The rapper has been dropped by his management after the posts.
