Visitors to the Florence Arts Centre in Egremont can expect a warm welcome.

The centre has a new infrared technology heating system, after being successful in securing funding from The Dulverton Trust Fund through Cumbria Community Foundation and from Arts Council England’s emergency response fund.

The centre is planning to open their new exhibition, Experiment!, on August 15. It features new ceramic work made by sisters Carolyn and Frances Marr. They have used the distinctive haematite pigment in the glaze for their pottery, the whole experiment is captured on a film produced by Lucia Tambini.

A preview can be seen on the centres new website www.florenceartscentre.com.

The exhibition is the first of a series of works planned for the centre, with the second, A Sense of Place by Rachel Metcalf to be held in September.

Holli Graham, manager at Florence Arts Centre said: “It has been really exciting to develop a new website that shows off what Florence does best with really good looking artwork online and film which helps to understand the artists’ intentions.

“As we reopen, people will be able to book workshops and gigs online and to shop, starting with our range of Florence Paintmakers art products.”

The centre has measures in place for safety, including a one-way system, hand sanitising stations and protective screens.
