CUMBRIA stakeholders are being asked to help shape the future of the county’s power network.

Electricity North West, which operates the region’s power network, is hosting its annual Regional Stakeholder Advisory workshop later this month.

Organisations in attendance will have the chance to hear about and contribute to a range of topics surrounding what is in store for the future of the region’s electricity network as Electricity North West enters a critical stage of creating its new long-term investment plan.

Paul Bircham, Regulation and Communications Director, at Electricity North West, said: “Each year, we face the challenge of investing in and maintaining a reliable network which supports the people and prosperity of the region and enables the UK’s carbon reduction, whilst ensuring that transition if fair and affordable for all our customers.

“We’re now at a critical stage of shaping our future business plan and we want to hear from the people of Cumbria to help shape the power network of the future.”

The online session, taking place on September 25, will be hosted by senior figures from Electricity North West.

As well as learning about the latest business performance and operations, attendees will also be able to contribute to plans for three important areas; network reliability, customer service including support for vulnerable customers and the environment and decarbonisation.

Mr Bircham added: “We have made a commitment to not only support regional decarbonisation but lead the way.

“We’re ensuring the network is ready for the increase in electricity use whilst we’re reducing our own carbon emissions and helping businesses and customers do the same.

“As we continue to invest, we recognise these changes needs to ensure no customers are left behind, particularly those in vulnerable circumstances or in fuel poverty.

“As always, we’ll take all opinions and comments on board and consider everything before we then feedback and share our investment plans for the future.”

Electricity North West’s Regional Stakeholder Advisory workshop is from 10am until 12.30pm.
