A SUPERMARKET is urgently recalling one of its food items which may contain an ingredient not listed on the label.

Co-op, is urgently recalling its 18 Chocolate Caramel Shortcake Bites due to some packs containing an incorrect product.

Co-op announced that the caramel shortcakes may contain barley or gluten which had not been stated on the label.

This could consequently cause a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy intolerance to barley or gluten.

The products that have been recalled include pack size of 18 pieces with the best before date of October 16, 2020.

The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

Cumbria Trading Standards issued a warning to customers who may have purchased the item. Co-op is recalling the product from customers and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to barley or gluten do not eat it. Instead customers should call 0800 0686 727 or email customer.careline@coop.co.uk.
