The lease on the building that houses a centre for adults with mental health needs in Barrow has been extended.

The Richmond Fellowship, which runs a centre supporting adults with mental health needs at the Adelphi Court building, has been locked in discussions with Barrow Borough Council about the future of the building.

Now the lease has been extended, to the relief of residents.

A spokesperson for the Fellowship, which is made up of 11 flats and an office, said the new lease, running until 2021, means their good work can continue.

They said : "We have worked in partnership with Barrow Borough Council for the last five years, delivering supported housing to those with mental health difficulties.

"The scheme has been an incredible success and we have worked with many individuals as part of their recovery journey. The extension to the lease of Adelphi Court means that we can now continue to provide this essential support to the residents in Barrow.”
