Companies selling food in South Cumbria are being reminded to keep their eye on the ball with food labelling.

The council fears the annual message around food allergies could be lost this year as everyone concentrates of wearing masks in shops and keeping hands clean.

South lakes district council has made the move today as more people return to ordering in food, instead of going out for it in the same way they did during ‘eat out to help out in August.’

Councillor Suzie Pye, portfolio holder for health and wellbeing said: “When you eat out or order a takeaway, the restaurant or café must now provide you with allergen information. This could be, for example, information on their menu or a prompt explaining how you can obtain this information. This may include advice that you get from a member of staff or on the contents of a dish you might want to order online.”
