Carlisle City Council has joined Cumbria's Dream Placements scheme for the coming year.
The local authority has become the latest addition to the Centre for Leadership Performance's Dream Placements scheme, which offers young people aged 16 to 18 in Cumbria the chance to spend time getting to see the real world of work.
Unlike normal work experience schemes, the Dream Placement programme gives young people access to the senior leadership of some of Cumbria's biggest businesses, giving them a richer opportunity to understand the challenges faced and overcome by organisations including Sellafield, Story Balfour Beatty, the University of Cumbria, and now also Carlisle City Council.
The six month programme is offered to about 50 young people from across Cumbria each year.
