A leisure centre operator in Allerdale has revealed that customers have been flocking back to use the facilities since the lockdown ended.

Better, who manage centres in Workington, Maryport, Keswick and Cockermouth, says it’s a sign of growing customer confidence – and a determination to get back to their fitness regimes and remain fit and healthy.

Figures reveal that from July 25, to September 24, a total of 26,595 visits were made.

Despite not being able to operate at full capacity because of covid-19 precautions, a spokesman for Better said: “Having ensured our centres, swimming pools and fitness classes are adhering to guidelines and are safe for all, we have seen strong numbers coming back through the gym doors, and we are excited to see this confidence continue.

“Now more than ever, keeping active and engaged in our health is crucial, and having friendly, welcoming, safe spaces to do this has helped so many people get back into their routines and a little bit of normality.”
