LOTS of local people and businesses have made the shorlist for the acclaimed annual The Great Outdoors Awards.
A TGO spokesman said the magazine had received more nominations than ever for its Reader Awards. Local people and businesses that are up for an award include: The Wainwright, Keswick (pub of the year); Little Chamonix Cafe, Keswick (cafe or restaurant); YHA Black Sail Hostel, Ennerdale and YHA Keswick (hostel or bunkhouse); Church Stile Campsite, Nether Wasdale (campsite of the year); Lindsay Buck, aka The Wasdale Womble (outdoor personality); Suzanna Cruickshank, Swimming Wild in the Lake District (outdoor book) and Needle Sports, Keswick independent retailer).
Suzanna, of Cockermouth, said: "I wanted to write a book for every swimmer who has stood at the edge of a lake and wondered if it was okay to swim there. It’s wonderful just to be nominated and to have my efforts recognised. All the positive feedback has suggested I have achieved what I set out too and I am thrilled."
Voting closes on November 11.
