A clothing drive in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance Service has now been postponed.

Jordan Mattinson, who has previously raised thousands for the organisation by holding drop-in clothing collections, took to Facebook to say that the event was postponed until next month, when it can hopefull be rescheduled.

He said: "due to the rapidly rising Covid cases in Copeland we have taken the decision to postpone the Great North Air Ambulance Service clothes drive."

"The event itself would have been totally socially distant and safe as always but with the virus being transmittable on surfaces we cannot take the risk of accepting items."

He added that is is also not currently possible for the Great North Air Ambulance staff to travel from the North East to West Cumbria in these conditions during a lockdown.

He said: "We are extremely sorry about this and will look to reschedule for February, permitting it is safe to do so."

"Apologies once again."

Jordan has worked with Whitehaven RLFC in past events, holding several drop-ins at the club. They will try and hold the event in February, subject to Covid guidelines.
