Readers have been commenting on a drive for volunteers and extra staff by the NHS across North Cumbria and the North East, to help administer the Coronavirus vaccinations.
The NHS has started to deliver the vaccine and the regional team is looking for extra people to get involved.
They said vaccinating thousands of people every day will take hundreds of extra staff and volunteers. They have many paid jobs and volunteering opportunities available for local people who want to support the fight against the virus.
Vaccinations will take place in a range of NHS locations such as hospitals, GP practices, community pharmacies and new, dedicated vaccination sites.
They added: "We really want local people to benefit from these opportunities, which will play an important part in supporting the region’s fight against the virus."
Kenny Bletsoe suggested using the army: "What about the army? Why not use them or other armed forces? They are all trained."
Vicki Walker asked: "Why can't dentists and pharmacists help with injections? They are both trained in using and injecting people already."
Jennifer Daglish replied: "We’ve been sent an email as students asking if we want to train to give the vaccine. We don’t have time to do the additional training and then hours needed to give the vaccinations. It is a bit crazy."
Marie Louise would volunteer: "Hey I am not trained but I would."
Bev Jeffery: "Yes I would."
