CORONAVIRUS vaccinations are well underway across the UK, with Cumbrian teams receiving particular praise for their efforts. However, NHS North Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group is asking the public not to call their GP to request a vaccine - "the NHS will contact you when it's your turn to receive the vaccine."
The team has explained how Pfizer/BioNTech and AstraZeneca's jabs against Covid work: "The COVID-19 vaccine, just like any other vaccine, works by teaching your immune system how to defend itself against attack from the virus."
The added that expertise drawn from other NHS immunisation programmes are being used to steer the roll-out of Coronavirus vaccines with the elderly and those most vulnerable to serious complications receiving protection first.
