Premier Inn has issued an update on bookings ahead of national lockdown restrictions easing across England on May 17.

The Premier Inn website was last updated on May 7.

A spokesman said: "With varying government restrictions in different parts of the UK, we’re constantly reviewing our hotel and restaurant policies to ensure we open and operate in line with these. With this in mind, please ensure you check the guidance or regulations applicable to you and your destination before travelling in England, Germany, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

"We’re regularly reviewing our policies to ensure they align with government guidance and we’ll be contacting any guests with a booking during the current period of restrictions. Please bear with us during this busy time."

Hotel update

England – In line with the latest government restrictions, guests with bookings for work, education or other legally permitted reasons can still stay at hotels before May 17.

However, Premier Inn are unable to accommodate stays for leisure purposes until after this date.

Please check that you meet the criteria set by the government and are eligible to stay before arrival. Any guests with bookings up to May 16 can now amend or cancel their stay via the ‘manage booking’ tool on the website.

Scotland – In line with the latest government updates, Premier Inn hotels are now open to guests staying for both work and leisure purposes from within Scotland as well as England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Jersey and the Isle of Man. For international guests, please check that you meet the criteria set by the government and are eligible to stay before arrival.

Wales – Premier Inn hotels in Wales are now open to all guests.

Safety

The safety of guests and team members is a number one priority. That's why Premier Inn has implemented extra precautions as part of the Premier Inn CleanProtect promise to ensure all hotels are clean, safe, and adhere to the latest government guidance.

Restaurants

England – Premier Inn plan to reopen all restaurants across England from May 17.

From April 12, a number of restaurants opened gardens for outdoor meals only. This means that breakfast is not available at the moment.

Scotland – Indoors, Premier Inn are accepting restaurant bookings of up to six people from two different households until 8pm each day, although are unable to serve alcohol inside.

Outdoors, they are accepting restaurant bookings of up to six people from six different households until 10pm each night, and alcohol will be available.

For hotel guests, food will be available indoors until 10pm each night, alcohol will not be available indoors, though the same restrictions on group sizes applies. Hotel guests can order food to take to room until 10pm and enjoy food and drinks outdoors until 10:30pm each night. Last food orders should be made well in advance of the 10pm closure.

Wales – From April 26, a number of restaurants opened for outdoor meals only. This means that breakfast is not available at the moment.

Managing existing bookings

The website states: "Recognising the need for more flexibility, we have changed all of our room rate products to offer clear choices around cancelling or re-arranging bookings. All our rates, with the exception of non-flex, now offer the ability to amend on a like for like basis right up to 1pm on the day of planned arrival or to cancel within the terms and conditions of the specific room rate for a full refund.
