HEAVY levels of traffic are still being seen on the M6 heading towards Cumbria.
Drivers heading north have been facing delays throughout the day as the county expects a massive influx of visitors for the bank holiday weekend.
As of 6pm, Highway Agency signs on the M6 state that drivers are seeing 30 minute delays on junctions 37-39.
Congestion was seen tailing as far back as Blackburn with drivers heading towards Kendal and the Lake District at around 12.20pm.
One driver said: "It is absolutely mental.
"I have never seen so much traffic on the M6 - I hope it has cleared by the time I'm coming home!"
