A BUTCHER has developed an innovative new approach to thank his loyal customers.

Chris Clough, the owner of the Chopping Block in New Squares, Penrith, has launched a new online delivery and click-and-collect service.

His manager and cousin, Sarah Sambrook, said demand had driven the expansion.

Ms Sambrook said: “It’s always something we’ve had planned. But we’ve developed a really good community of locals, even though we’re quite a young business.

“Coronavirus has brought the demand forward.”

Customers can buy goods from across the UK and the store also sells hampers which are a great idea for gifts.

The online service has only just launched, but the store has already received a dozen orders.

Ms Sambrook said: “We are focused on sustainability as a young family business.

“All produce is British and to a good welfare standard we focus on heritage and traditional breeds.”

“We switched to an entirely British cheese counter to help cheese makers during the pandemic.”

Chopping Block’s top-selling product is the dry-aged steak which is produced in a Himalayan salt chamber located on the shop floor.

Despite being a relatively new business that just celebrated its second anniversary on June 20, they already have loyal customers.

Ms Sambrook said: “We’re lucky here in Penrith because the local community is really supportive of independent businesses.”
