Tributes have come in for a father-of-eight and mother-of-two that both died in a road traffic collision. 

Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision on the A66/A595 Fitz roundabout near Cockermouth, which involved a car and a tractor, at 5.50am on July 3.

A man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene, police confirmed.

The family of Shaun Milburn, 34, of Maryport, have paid tribute to his life.

Shaun Milburn’s wife, Shareen, released the following tribute: “Shaun was a loving and overprotective father to eight children, aged between 17 years and 1 year old.

“Shaun was my best friend, my number one man. He was such a caring and loyal husband, who came from a big family of seven brothers and one sister.

“Family was everything to him, he loved spending time with family and could not have wished for a better Mam and Dad, who he loved deeply.

“Shaun was the life and soul of the party, he enjoyed life to the full.

“He leaves a big hole in all our hearts and he will never be forgotten. We all love you babes xx”

The family of Michelle Pattinson, 42, of Maryport, have paid tribute to her life following the fatal collision.

Michelle’s family have released the following tribute: “Rest in Peace Michelle.

“A loving mother of six beautiful children, and sister of Wendy, Wayne, Dawn and Gemma.

“A devoted auntie to Iona, Jason, Chelsea, Hunter and Layton.

“Sadly gone, but forever loved and missed.

“Fly high, you’re always with us. Xx”

Mayor of Cockermouth, Alan Smith, said: “This is an absolute tragedy, I express my deepest condolences to both of the families who have lost their loved ones at this awful time , and will be thinking of all those who have been affected by the crash.”
