Penrith AFC have postponed this weekend's game because of a Covid-19 outbreak at the club.

A number of senior management and committee members have been affected by the virus.

It has led the Frenchfield Park club to contact the Northern League and explain they could not stage this Saturday's Division One home game against Seaham Red Star.

The club said it would have been almost impossible to stage the game with so many of their volunteers isolating and unable to attend Frenchfield Park.

Non-league clubs such as Penrith rely heavily on volunteers and the game will now be rearranged.

A club statement said: "Senior management and committee members have been struck down by the pandemic which leaves it virtually impossible for us to fulfil the requirements of holding a game.

"It will be rearranged ASAP."

Penrith are currently second bottom in the First Division after 10 games.

They are now due to return to action next Saturday, September 25, in the FA Vase second qualifying round at Northallerton Town.
