A TWENTY-nine-year old man has admitted burgling a Penrith area business and stealing a transit van.
At Carlisle Crown Court, Keiron Heslop admitted the two offences, committed between June 4 and June 8 last year at the premises of Holland and Oxley, at the Redhills Business Park.
He stole a set of keys. The theft offence related to him taking a Ford Transit van belonging to Northern Vehicle Hire.
Following a submission from defence barrister Stephen Hamill, Judge Nicholas Barker agreed that a background report should be prepared on the defendant, of New Lane, Denton, Darlington.
But the judge warned that Heslop should not "get his hopes up".
Judge Barker said the defendant's offending history from before 2017 was "appalling."
The defendant will be sentenced on February 9 and will remain remanded in custody until then.
