A CARLISLE teenager if facing a fine and court costs of more than £800 after he was convicted of careless driving.
Joshua Luke McAleney, 18, of Richardson Street, Denton Holme, had denied the offence as well as an allegation of having a tyre with insufficient tread, but he was found guilty of both offences after a trial at the city's Rickergate court.
Prosecutors said the offence happened near Brampton on June 13 last year. The defendant was driving an Alfa Romeo on Main Road, Lanercost, when he failed follow the road around a corner and crashed into hedge.
The defendant was fined £180 and he must also pay prosecution costs of £625 and a £34 victim surcharge. His driving record was endorsed with six points.
