A TWENTY-year-old Carlisle man has denied two allegations of violence and making a threat to "petrol bomb and burn down" a relative's house.

Joseph Charlotte, of Shadygrove Road, Raffles, has pleaded not guilty to the following offences, which prosecutors say happened on December 12 last year:

* Causing criminal damage to a Hyundai car.

* Assaulting Joseph Charlotte (senior) by beating him.

* Assaulting a female.

* Threatening Joseph Charlotte (senior), saying he would "burn down his house and petrol bomb the house belonging to him, intending he would fear that the threat would be carried out.

Magistrates sitting at Carlisle's Rickergate court adjourned for a case management hearing, which will be held at Sussex (Eastern) Magistrates' Court in Hastings on February 9.

The defendant was granted bail but with a condition that he must not contact the alleged victims and that he must live and sleep each night at his current Carlisle address.

He must also report to Durranhill Police HQ at specified times on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The defendant was represented by defence lawyer Jeff Smith.
