WIGTON Rugby Club have organised a series of fundraising events to raise money to pay for renovations of the club grounds and facilities.

Everyone at the club has got involved by hosting events such as a sportsman's lunch, a guest speaker apperance, music nights, raffles, 24-hour danceathons and much more.

The under 15's of the club have decided to host a raffle and gig to support the club. Local band 'Something Brewing', who recently sold out their UK tour will perform at the gig for free. Margi Dalgliesh, a mum to one of the young rugby players said: "Everybody has got right behind the project in Wigton."

The project target was £14,000, and the club's efforts have already raised just under £12,500 with 26 days left.

Business in Wigton such as OVS, Sealy and multiple small businesses have got involved. Sealy's donated a king size mattress to the raffle!

The Rugby Club are raising money for a full renovation of their grounds including their changing rooms, the gym, new flood lights and just a general update of the facilities as they are getting used more and becoming more outdated.

Margi Dalgliesh, said: "Although Rugby is the main sport played there, it is a community sports hub or meet up point that need a little TLC."

"It will mean the world to them all. It is used for functions, to watch other sports, people use the gym."

"The facilities are just old, my son said that even the showers can be hit or miss, if you dont get there first, you are having a cold shower."

The music gig will take place at the Rugby club on March 17, charged at £3.00.
