A truck driver has been fined after a traffic camera on the A66 recorded them driving at a speed nine mph above the limit.

Owen Buchanan Black, 34, of The Orchards in Rastrick, West Yorkshire, admitted driving his DAF Trucks vehicle on the A66 Trunk Road at 49mph, exceeding the local 40mph limit.

Kirklees Magistrates' Court heard that Black was caught by an automatic camera device on December 15, 2021.

He pleaded guilty to contravening the local traffic order and was sentenced on January 16 this year.

In addition to the £280 fine, he was ordered to pay £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £34 surcharge to fund victim services.

The court also imposed three penalty points on Buchanan Black's driving licence.

The conviction was endorsed on his driving record and a notification was sent to the DVLA.

The court issued a collection order, allowing Black to pay the fine and costs in monthly installments of £60 from late January.
