A new event is set to launch in Cumbria this September, aiming to provide extra support for women in business.

The Women in Business Network (WIBN), a national networking organisation, will be launching its first Cumbria group on September 26 at Rheged, near Penrith.

Rheged has been chosen as the venue for the launch due to its central location in Cumbria, its accessibility, and the fact that it is a second-generation family business chaired by Sarah Dunning.

Following the launch event, monthly meetings will be held on the fourth Tuesday of each month.

WIBN was originally founded in 2006 and is co-owned by businesswoman Helen Fletcher.

Hosting the Cumbria group will be Rachel Gilbert, an experienced networker who already facilitates 8 groups across the UK.

Rachel Gilbert said: “We’re very excited about launching the Cumbria WIBN group.

"WIBN is so friendly and supportive, with a diverse range of businesses involved”.

Ms Gilbert is relocating to Cumbria, bringing her WIBN experience to the county, and will be supported by co-host Alison Marsden, a local business owner.

The launching group is inviting local businesswomen to book a place at the launch event, where they will have the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals, gain support, share expertise, and exchange business contacts.

To find out more and book their place at the launch event on 26 September, businesswomen are encouraged to visit wibn.co.uk/page/Cumbria-Networking-Group.

WIBN currently hosts over 60 groups throughout the UK, providing business networking opportunities for SME business owners and professional service providers for small businesses in local communities.

The Women in Business Network is a membership organisation that offers a networking forum for businesswomen looking to build relationships with like-minded individuals and gain new business opportunities.

Rheged, located just off the M6 at Penrith, is a multifaceted venue that celebrates of Cumbria through various activities and amenities such as films, talks, art exhibitions, independent shops, an indoor play and create area, and a café.

It also provides workspaces and meeting rooms for individuals and businesses.
