A PENRITH hair salon is feeling 'overwhelmed' after being announced as a finalist in the English Hair and Beauty Awards 2024.

Elaine Swanns Hair Studio, on Penrith's Poets Walk, has been nominated as a finalist in the Colour Technician of the Year category.

"I'm feeling overwhelmed to be honest," Elaine said.

"I love what I do and it doesn’t feel like I work at all. I’m still learning 40 years on," she said.

She praised the culture that has been created by her team but also pride in her salon's previous win as Cumbrian Salon of the Year five years ago.

" I'm so proud of my team. I've been teaching colouring for 16 years now. Firstly for Matrix and now for Elgon."

Elaine said she brings passion and teaching to the forefront of her business, which in turn brings 'inspiration'.

"I get that from the team I work with and the salon I educate in.

"And enthusiasm from Elgon and their team," she said.

Also in Cumbria, Hairport in Brampton has also earned a nod in the Colour Technician of the year category.

Penrith's Greg Malloy Hairdressing & Wedding Hair has also been named as a finalist in Stylist of the Year and Bridal Hair Specialist of the Year categories.

The winners will be announced at a black-tie ceremony, which will take place on April 7 at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel.

A spokesperson for The English Hair and Beauty Awards 2024, said:  “We had an outstanding response from the public who went behind our nomination process and put forward tried and tested beauty professionals that deserve recognition.

"The number of 60,000 votes received is just incredible and record-breaking for us and therefore, we would like to thank everyone who contributed to this overwhelming response."
